On Friday, The U.S. Supreme Court, in a 5-4 decision without explanation, denied the Nevada church’s appeal for an injunction while it waits for a ruling from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. The appeal is to remove the 50 person cap and allow worship services to meet at 50% capacity -the same as casinos, gyms, restaurants, etc. The four Justices who dissented wrote strong opinions in our favor. Justice Alito said, “The Constitution guarantees the free exercise of religion. It says nothing about freedom to play craps or blackjack, to feed tokens into a slot machine or to engage in any other game of chance.” Justice Neil Gorsuch said, “Today’s world with a pandemic upon us, poses unusual challenges. But there is no world in which the Constitution permits Nevada to favor Caesars Palace over Calvary Chapel,” Justice Kavenaugh wrote a powerful detailed opinion; in summery he stated: “Nevada is discriminating against religion.” To read their entire dissenting opinions, click on the doc below. Please continue to pray as we are seeking both spiritual and legal advice on how to move forward. We are trusting God to turn this situation around for our good, and for His Kingdom purpose!

Dear Church Family,
The Scriptures exhorts us to weep with those that weep and rejoice with those that rejoice. I’ve had the privilege of listening to the stories of members of our church and understanding better the pain they are suffering. The tragic and horrific death of George Floyd at the hands of police officers and deaths of other African Americans has caused so much pain in our communities.
The Word of God will get you through!
Thankfully, the Bible has a lot to say to us about how to get through difficult times! Even though none of us has ever experienced a “storm” quite like the one currently rocking our world, God sure wasn’t taken by surprise, and His Word has all we need to help us navigate through it!
The Word of God is Not Bound! (2 Timothy 2:9)
This is the Word that came up in my spirit while we were praying with our staff on Tuesday about what to do. The Apostle Paul was writing from prison to Timothy, his son in the faith. It seemed that he was restricted in what he could do to minister to people under the circumstances.
